My life in Five Years

June 12, 2008

After 5 years, I woul like to be a member of the motor corporation such as Hyundai, Toyota or GM. Probably, I would search about automation of the cars so many people could drive more easily and more safely. My work place would depend on which company I work. I would not mind where I am. Japan, US or Korea… I would not care about that.

My life at that time would be very busy because I think the beginning of the 30s must be busy in order to buy my house and car and manage my family. I guess that I could enjoy my life much more later. I just would like to be a member of family, company and society and do my best about my duties wherever I am. Then, I believe I would become a good husband, staff and member of society.

Euthanasia

June 2, 2008

Just imagine. If you were brain dead, what would you do? Would you continue to live in that state or would you want to be euthanized? There are a lot of patients with incurable diseases in the world who suffer from extreme pain. In that case, when they or their family agree, the action that shortens their lives without pain is called ‘Euthanasia‘. This has caused serious ethical problems for physicians. I watched a video about a doctor who killed his patient who really wanted to be free from serious pain. After watching the video, I thought that the doctor was a murder, but the patient himself really wanted to die. Then, is he a murder? Since that then, I am still confused about what is right.

Some terminal patients have to depend on medical instruments and medicine to combat against severe pain everyday. That’s why some people who are physicians, religious and ethicists think that they would rather choose an easy death without pain than continue to live with pain until they are dead. Futhermore, if they donate their internal organs such as heart or kidney, other many patients will be able to get an opportunity of the new life.

On the other hand, other many people don’t agree with the euthanasia because they think the patients also have a right to live and suecide is a crime. In addition, The most fundamental responsibility of the doctors is to save the patients not kill them. Also, although they will not be able to recover from their diseases, they have an obligation to live until they die.

Almost countries including Korea accept it as a crime. However, Vatican authorities have said they would accept euthanasia, but with some conditions. Also, some countries such as Netherland, Belgium and Switzerland have already accepted it. There are still a lot of opinions about euthanasia. I cannot decide which is better or right. Just I think that it is important not only to choose how to live but also how to die.

<Three Kingdoms : Resurrection Of The Dragon>

This movie is about a part of history called Three Kingdoms  in China. The movie especially shows the life of the veteran general called Zhao Zilong. After the general saves his lord’s son from the enermy, Cao Cao’s huge army he becomes the one of the greatest generals like Gwan-Uh and Jang-Bie. Andy Lau  stars as Zhao Zilong and Maggie Q is the fictional Cao Ying, a grand-daughter of the warlord Cao Cao.

When I was student, I read the  book, Three Kingdom. Its story was very huge and exciting. I watched it about 1month ago by DVD. The movie was also fantastic as I had expected. I think this movie was expessed in the emotion of the charater and the status of the generation very well. Also, a lot of Korean people praised this movie although a few people were not interested in it.

There are a lot of great people in Korean history. Among them, I think the most influential person is “King Sejong the Great” in Choson dynasty.

The biggest reason why I choose this is that he created the Korean Character System called Han-Geul. Before that, Korean people used the difficult Chinese character but Han-Geul is easy to learn. Practically, the illiteracy rate is almost zero in Korea.

The second reason is that I think he is the role model of leadership. He had many visions of developing the Choson dynasty, and had impact on his subjects to make work for achieving his goals. His leadership is still working in modern Korean society.

Finally, he is the model of 10000 won note free of charge. As Korean people use money, we look his face. It reminds Korean people to be proud of his achievements and our great history.

Actually, I don’t want to remember this event, but it was my turning point in my life. 4 years ago(Jan. 2004), I started my military service. As almost Korean men know, it was very rough and stressful because of hard drills, a lot of works and strick atmosphere. However, I could become more adulty and patient physically and mentally, and have a strong will power. Also, I could make many friends. After my duty, I could manage my works very well.

There are a variety of things that make me happy, food, money and TV etc. However, I want to choose a laptop. The laptop is very important because I need it when I do my homeworks. In addition, the important materials such as English mp3, music files and some programs are saved. I always bring it wherever I am. I worked part time job last summer vacation so I made some money. I had wanted to buy a laptop for a long time, so I decided to purchase a laptop. I can chat with my friends, watch the movies, listen to the music and study English. I can do everything, so it makes me happy.

Ramyeon is very popular snack in Korea, so I would like to introduce my own way to make super spicy Ramyeon.

To begin, wi need some utensils and ingredients.

Prepare a pot, knife, chopsticks, spoon and a package of Ramyeon. For makingsuper spicy Ramyeon, it is very important that which Ramyeon you choose. I prefer Shin Ramyeon. For better favor, prepare mushroom, kimchi, green onion and pepper powder.

Now, let’s start!!

At first, boil 500ml water. During that time, cut the green onion and mushroom and break noddle half. Put noddle, dried vegitable, green onion and mushroom into the boiled water. After about 3~4 minutes, throw the water away, but leave just a little bit.

Then, add the chilly powder into the pot and then mix well on weak fire. Serve with kimchi. It must be very spicy, although it’s very salty.

Warning : I don’t garantee your health. Thus, don’t eat too often!!

I live in Mok4-dong, Yangcheon-Gu.

The total number of candidates are 4 in my area.

No. 1 is Lee Jae-Hak(United Democratic Party).

His 3 main policies are the tax innovation, the solution to the cost of private education and the solution to traffic jam.

No. 2 is Won Hye-Yong(Grand National Party).

He was eleted last National Assembly Eletion in 2004, then is eleted again this time.

His policies are the development of public community, the support of re-building and the tax innovation.

No. 3 is Kang Sam-Jae(The Liberty Forward Party).

His policies are the better transformation network, tax innovation and environmentally friendly area.

No. 6 is Wang Sung-Tae(Family Party for Peace and Unity)

Generally, his policies focus on making happy family, so the policies are related to houses, education and tax innovation.

According to the their policies, all candidates said that they will try to reform the tax system. Probably, these day the living cost become high. That’s why people is concerned about house expenditure.

To be honest, I am not interested in politics. Obviously, there are lots of politicians in Korea, and they are trying to develop my country. Despite that fact, I do not like politicians and their talks sound like lie. For this reason I did not vote.

However, I think the eletion is very important because the Korea nation choose our leaders. As many people know a leader is very important to a group, so that day should be day off. Some people are living the place which is far from their hometown. In my opinion, people should vote as possible as they can.

A traditional Korean house called “HAN-OK” are made of wood like pine tree instead of stone and metal. Its roof is covered with many tile.

The biggest feature of the house is that there exist “Ondol” which is a heating system, delivering heat through the floor and “Maru” which is a cool floor for summer.

The structure of the houses differs according to region because of the climate.

We can see the lots of traditional houses in Korean folk village.
